Indian stock markets have left investors with another day of losses. For the past three days, the markets have been experiencing declines, and today was no different, closing in the red. The Nifty opened positively at 22,536 points, despite global market volatility. The day’s low was at 22,329 points. The day’s high reached 22,577 points. It ultimately closed flat at 22,470 points.
The Nifty closed with a loss of 27 points at 22,470. The Sensex ended with a loss of 72 points and closed at 74,029. On the other hand, the Nifty Bank index closed with a gain of 202 points. Selling pressure continues to persist in the Nifty mid-cap and small-cap stocks.
The IT index affected the market today, with a noticeable sell-off in the IT sector. Stocks of companies like L&T Technology, Infosys, and Mindtree dragged the IT index down. Stocks of Wipro, Coforge, and Tech Mahindra also contributed to the decline. There were losses of nearly 3%.

New index launched by NSE;

‘The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has launched a new index called Nifty Chemicals. This index reflects the performance of chemical sector stocks, selected from 500 companies.
The index will consist of 20 companies. They will be chosen based on their average free float market capitalization over the past six months. Additionally, NSE has revealed that the weightage of each stock will not exceed 33%.
